Base Building, The Remarkables Ski Field

neil and collingwood 1_optThe Remarkables Ski Field new Base Building, constructed by Arrow International, was built over 3 levels at a cost of $20million replacing the original Base Facilities built in the 1980’s.

Designed by renowned Queenstown Architect, Michael Wyatt, the building features modern up to the minute facilities designed to ensure the thousands of daily skiers have a seamless transition from car park to the ski field options.

Consulting Engineers, Cosgroves, designed and specified aquatherm PP R for the hot & cold water reticulation. The inert nature of this system providing importantly thermal resistance to frost damage, insulation properties in a harsh climate and quiet operation were all qualities that enhanced this project.

Flints Plumbing installed the system under what their site foreman Andy Collingwood described as very trying plumbing conditions. Not surprisingly, working at an altitude of 1600 feet caused a few issues with weather delays, however, by making the most of the good weather they managed to bring the project in on time.

Andy was particularly grateful to aquatherm for their support with tooling and installation advice during this challenging project.
