Aquatherm goes to new heights

An iconic landmark in Auckland's skyline due to its height and unique design and now the highest aquatherm installation in New Zealand.

This project came about thanks to the team at Axis Plumbing, CANAM interiors and Aqua Heat NZ Ltd for the requirement of a new chiller install on the telecommunications levels of the Sky Tower. With security and health & safety at the forefront of the project and with 58 wireless microwave links in the installation parameter, to provide a complete flow and return system in a circle was no mean feat. The Sky Tower observation and tele-communications tower in the Auckland CBD,  at 328 meters (1,076 ft) tall, as measured from ground level to the top of the mast is the tallest man-made structure in the southern hemisphere. Dealing with heavy steel pipe and welding can create numerous safety issues but because aquatherm blue piping is so much lighter than other products it is not only safer to prepare and cut but it saves time installing…..especially if you have to lug it up 1267 steps.

With aquatherm’s heat fusion connections no flames, hot work permits, fumes or gases are an issue. Also the installers did not have to deal with the challenges of welding steel pipe in confined spaces and maintaining the necessary safeguards required for such tasks.
