Genesis Tekapo G1 Power Station

IMG_1193_optIMG_1185_optGenesis Energy Project Manager, Natasha Wright required new cooling water supply pipe for the new Bearing Filtration System on the Tekapo A Unit replacing corroded and undersized existing pipe work.  Sounds easy enough, however the required time frames were tight when installing the specified product (steel welded then galvanised).

Alister Bradley, Project Manager from Ashhurst Engineering charged with the project suggested a product that they have successfully used previously; corrosion free aquatherm green pipe PPR-80.

Alister decided that using German made aquatherm green pipe would save on installation time. Not just cutting and welding, but there was not the requirement to send pipe away for galvanising once manufactured, saving a revisit to fit the completed pipe work. On top of that there were health and safety benefits of welding the light weight aquatherm green pipe over steel without the need for hot work permits etc.

Yet again AEC completed the project well within the required time frames and budget with a superb install by Tony Andersen and Russell Burr. www.aec1989.co.nz
